Mater Dei High School Chorus presents first concert on the Amalfi Coast in Maiori

The beautiful hilltop church of Santa Maria a Mare hosts the first concert for the Mater Dei High School Chorus on their 2011 Incantato Italy Performance Tour and Pilgrimage. The choirs from Santa Ana, California under the direction of Scott Melvin take the stage for the first time on Saturday, March 26 at 7 pm only a day after arriving in Italy. The coastal town of Maiori sure seems ready for the 130+ singer and handbell players as the streets are decorated with the tour posters. "Hope, Faith and Peace" is the tour theme and also the title for the combined concert that evening.

"There are at least four essential ingredients for a successful and rewarding concert tour for young people and their sponsors —appropriate concert settings, advance publicity, opportunities for learning about the areas visited (including exchanges with the local youth), and good logistical planning. The recent tour of the Akron, Ohio Summit Children's Touring Choir through Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria was successful indeed. The venues were most impressive and beautiful.
